HSBC's Leveraged Finance Middle Market Financial Sponsors (MMFS) Team originates and executes debt financings to support private equity led investments and acquisitions. As a leading player in the German LBO market, HSBC has the capacity and liquidity to provide bespoke financing solutions of various sizes and types across the global HSBC network.
In this role you will
- Proactively and frequently be involved in the regional M&A market, assisting the team to originate appropriate debt financing opportunities across LBOs, recapitalisations, refinancings, add-on financings, etc. Lead or assist in pitches, discussions and negotiations with sponsors, advisers, clients and prospective clients
- Perform in-depth commercial, financial and operational due diligence on target companies incl. analysis of market trends, competition and potential business plans using information obtained from multiple data sources
- Build detailed financial models (incl. sensitivity analysis) based on management meetings, calls with financial sponsors and sector research
- Work closely as part of a team to structure and deliver robust credit facilities for proposed transactions, identifying and mitigating key risks that will secure and protect the bank while meeting client needs
- Manage and lead deal teams and share significant experience of managing complex transaction processes. Set expectations, share best practices and manage, monitor, coach and develop junior members of the team and others to ensure that they maximise performance, meet the required standards, and continuously develop their capabilities and experience
- Review and monitor the ongoing financial performance of portfolio assets
- Cooperate closely with other leveraged finance teams or business teams (e.g. sector) globally to ensure transactions are appropriately resourced and deadlines and key milestones are met
You should apply if you have
- Experience of working in relevant sponsored leveraged finance, corporate acquisition finance, M&A or corporate finance environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English with experience of analysing and summarising high volumes of business and transactional information under significant time pressure, whilst adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
- Excellent analytical and technical skills with strong attention to detail. Strong credit, financial and non-financial analytical skills, understand company accounts (incl. balance sheets, profit & loss and cash flows), experience of using various credit analysis techniques, credit report writing and cash flow modelling
- A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own / others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes
- Extensive knowledge to lead, shape and negotiate complex lending solutions. Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Outstanding university degree in relevant fields and role relevant qualifications and / or willingness to undertake the training / study required in this role. Excellent MS Office skills
- Strong team working skills and experience of planning and organising as well as supporting others' performance, enabling them to achieve by providing clear direction, motivation and support
