Abcd is seeking Art Directors / Senior Level Graphic Designers who enjoy creative challenges. Abcd has a wide variety of creative design needs and clients include conservation and marine science charities, social entrepreneurs, publishers and cultural institutions. For them we produce graphic solutions, branding, films, animations, photography and strategies that are realised in social media, presentations, website front end design, events, adverts, email newsletters and printed materials. We also produce books / films about culture and conservation under our own imprint / for well-known publishers / broadcasters. As most of our work comes from the Middle East, this position would be benefitted by fluency in English and Arabic, including the ability to execute layouts in Arabic.

Requirements

- Education including Masters level degree in branding and / or graphic design

- Minimum of 10 years industry experience

- Knowledge of or fluency in Arabic, in terms of reading, writing and layouts, will help

- Ability to produce art layouts by developing art concepts; and providing work direction to junior team

- Ability to think creatively and consistently deliver high quality designs

- Can demonstrate experience working in graphic design in the areas of fashion and lifestyle

- Will be comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines

- Must be fluent / demonstrate experience in Adobe Creative Suite software (including indesign, photoshop, illustrator)

- Ability to oversee production of projects from concept to production

Duties

* Accomplishes art department work requirements by orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching employees.

* Meets art department work standards by following production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving operational problems; identifying work process improvements.

* Meets art department cost standards by monitoring expenses; implementing cost-saving actions.

* Formulates art concepts by supervising workers engaged in executing layout designs for art work and copy to be presented by visual communications media.

* Keeps customers informed by reviewing illustrative material for presentation.

* Reviews project production factors by studying budget, background information, objectives, presentation approaches, styles, and techniques.

* Selects and secures illustrative material by formulating basic layout design concept; conducting research.

* Prepares layouts for printing by marking-up, pasting-up, and finishing layouts.

* Obtains client approval by presenting final layouts, story boards, and illustrations; responding to client commentary and requests.

* Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes.

* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks.

* Enhances art department and organisation reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
