About the Role

As a System Engineer for Innovative Concepts and Smart Technologies, you will be a member of the global team for "Innovative Concepts Product Reliability” to develop and realize innovative concepts to achieve high reliability standards in engineering and enable a robust and sustainable product development aligned to the requirements of reliability and manufacturing. You lead the optimization and streamlining reliability related workflows within the company globally and coordinate research resources in the team. You will report to the Director of the team for "Global Innovative Concept product reliability.”

What You Will Do

  • Smart technology scouting to identify and implement innovative solutions:

    • Analyzing potential, challenges and risks for HARMAN Automotive-

    • Concept development and portfolio analysis for new technologies from a technical and economic perspective.

    • Benchmarking of innovative technologies and feasibility analysis in pilot projects (PoC).

    • Realization and communication under consideration of HARMAN strategy and guidelines of project results within the company; tracking their progress and benefits, identifying further potentials.

    • Facilitating knowledge sharing and capacity building across the organization to ensure consistent adoption of reliability.

    • Problem solving for complex research and technical tasks.

    • Documentation and technical presentations of work results and status to management as well as internal and external stakeholders.

    • Recommending best practices to improve the current state of products, technologies and processes.

  • Progress optimization and administrative work:

    • Monitoring and reporting of key figures.

    • Optimization of internal processes and database maintenance.

    • Creation of presentations and documentations.

    • Organization of specialist conferences and in-house trade fairs.

    • Instruction and training as well as technical and organizational support of students and trainees in the department.

  • Managing research projects (R&D) in the field of HARMAN Automotive :

    • Acquisition and application of funding projects (state level, federal level and EU level).

    • Administration and technical lead of national and international projects.

    • Preparation of project outlines/project descriptions and application documents..

    • Preparation and submission of requests for funding and interim reports.

    • Communication with team members and external research partners.

    • Handling of research-oriented working packages.

    • Internal reporting to management / group director and evaluation of completed projects in terms of knowledge gain and economic added value.

What You Need to Be Successful

  • Minimum of Master’s degree in engineering (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Sciences or similar).

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the Automotive industry or research projects, experience in product quality, product lifecycle and development as well as reliability and methods for their control, testing and analysis.

  • Experience in leading international teams, in project management as well as lean and agile methods.

  • Experience with funding projects.

  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft applications.

  • Experience in mentoring and teaching technical knowledge to colleagues.

  • High analytical skills while solving complex problems.

  • Structured and result-oriented working style, awareness for costs, time planning and quality in projects, as well as passion for new technologies.

  • Ability to work in a team with intercultural communication skills (national and international and interdisciplinary).

  • Business fluent in German and English.

Bonus Points if You Have

  • Experience in the manufacturing sector, design for manufacturing, especially in the electronics or automotive sector.

  • Experience in Six Sigma (Green Belt), data science, simulation and/or machine learning and artificial intelligence applications.
