For one of our clients active in agricultural commodities trading, we are recruiting a Soybean Trader to be based in Geneva.
Your mission:
- Define and execute a trading strategy focused on Soybeans, managing both physical flows and hedging activity (futures/options) on relevant benchmarks.
- Build and deliver a business plan (volumes, margins, destinations, counterparties) in close coordination with origination/marketing, under the guidance of the Head of Trade.
- Develop and maintain a robust Supply & Demand (S&D) view for Soybeans, providing timely market intelligence, supply scenarios, crush margins dynamics, and quality/availability insights to support pricing and positioning.
- Act as a cash/physical trader with strong commercial judgement, managing end-to-end execution and P&L contribution while ensuring disciplined risk management (limits, VaR/stop-loss logic, hedging ratios, basis exposure, freight exposure).
- Support commercial/marketing teams on pricing, tenders, structured offers, and price risk management for customers (basis, flat price, formulas), ensuring delivery of the business plan.
- Monitor and optimize relevant freight spreads, logistics constraints (bulk/container where applicable), port/route economics, and trade rules to ensure competitive pricing and trade compliance.
- Identify and secure cost-effective supply origination and continuously screen arbitrage opportunities across origins/destinations.
Your profile:
- 5+ years’ experience in trading soybeans, with a clear track record in physical trading flows and risk management using futures and options (derivatives).
- Strong expertise in Soybeans markets (global footprint, seasonality, crush economics, substitution, quality specs), and solid understanding of related products.
- Comfortable operating within a "one book / one P&L” environment, collaborating effectively across trading, risk, operations and finance.
- Strong communication skills; ability to sell ideas and align stakeholders (internal and external) under time pressure.
- Proven ability to react to market moves and translate customer needs into executable trading decisions (pricing, basis, logistics, hedging).
- Entrepreneurial mindset, sound judgement, self-driven and accountable.
- Strong commercial knowledge of the bulk shipment supply chain (regional and global) with a risk-based approach (execution, demurrage, quality claims, counterparty risk).
- Preference for candidates with an existing customer network / book and experience managing supply chains across multiple regions.
- Very good understanding of import restrictions/requirements, trade compliance constraints, and documentation in relevant destination markets.
