Accountant / Buchhalter (m/f/d)

Job description

ATMOS Space Cargo is seeking an Accountant / Buchhalter (m/f/d) to join our growing Finance team in Lichtenau, Germany. In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations and support monthly and annual closing activities. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure accurate, compliant, and transparent financial processes in a fast-paced aerospace startup environment.

Key responsabilities
- You will handle day-to-day accounting activities, including booking of incoming and outgoing invoices
- You will manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- You will perform bank postings and account reconciliations
- You will support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities
- You will prepare and maintain balance sheet and P&L accounts
- You will process employee travel expenses and reimbursements
- You will support VAT filings and ensure tax compliance in cooperation with external advisors
- You will prepare documentation for audits and external accountants
- You will work with DATEV and support accurate data maintenance in the system
- You will support continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls
- You will collaborate closely with Finance, HR, and Operations teams

Profile required

- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a comparable qualification
- Completed commercial training with a focus on accounting (e.g. Finanzbuchhalter, Steuerfachangestellte) is also welcome
- Several years of practical experience in accounting, ideally in a startup, scale-up, or technology-driven environment
- Solid knowledge of German accounting standards (HGB)
- Confident working with accounting software, ideally DATEV, and strong Excel skills
- Structured, reliable, and detail-oriented working style
- Fluent German (C1) and good working proficiency in English

Preferred qualifications
- French language skills are a plus
- Experience working in an international environment
- Exposure to IFRS or group reporting structures
- Hands-on mindset and willingness to take ownership in a small team
- Interest in aerospace, space, or high-tech engineering environments
