The HZI, Germany's largest non-university infection research center, is a member of the Helmholtz Association and conducts cutting-edge research in the field of infectious diseases. Our scientists develop novel methods and strategies to combat infectious diseases more quickly and effectively. Our common goal is to develop novel approaches to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases. Bacterial and viral pathogens, their interaction with the human immune system, and new effective drugs and vaccines are at the center of our research.

The main task of the Purchasing & Materials Management department at the HZI is to ensure the economic supply of both the scientific and administrative departments by procuring and managing a wide range of goods and services. This task requires compliance with legal regulations, a focus on sustainability, transparency, and respect for human rights in order to balance the needs of science, research, and teaching with administrative requirements.
