Bioinformatician/Data Engineer (f/m/d)
Your tasks and responsibilities:
- Develop, standardize and execute data processing pipelines (ETL) for biomedical data
- Taking on the role of a data steward, ensuring that all data activities are documented and follow the highest quality and cyber security standards
- Work together with IT team to automate ETL processes
- Work with existing relational databases and object stores (on-prem and cloud)
- Improve existing in-house web applications for data access and visualization for both in-house as well as scientific and industry partners
- Contribute to in-house python-based feature extraction pipelines for raw laboratory output (e.g. microscope images) together with data scientists
- Work together with laboratory scientists
Expected skills and abilities:
- You have an MSc (with at least 3 years of working experience in the area) in bioinformatics, or related fields
- You are experienced with python and R for ETL and data analysis
- You have experience with the Linux command line
- You have hands-on experience with relational databases, in particular MySQL
- Optional plus: First hands-on experience with Docker
- Optional plus: Experience with python for data visualization and web development

- Good listening, communication, and personal skills to cooperate with lab colleagues
- Very good command of English, written and spoken
Optional and beneficial skills include experience with:
- Collaborative working tools (git, ticketing systems)
- Experience with biomedical data (e.g., pathology images, flow cytometry, NGS, metabolomics, microbiome, …)
- Experience with image analysis and computer vision (including machine learning and conventional methods)
- Working in an ISO certified environment
- German language skills are a plus, but not required to thrive in this position
