Your tasks
The group of Prof. Sandrine Sander is interested in the immune system and its tumors. Mechanistic insights in the molecular mechanisms underlying the activation of B cells and their transformation in lymphoma cells is the focus of our work. Through a combined analysis of disease-relevant processes in normal and malignant cells, novel approaches for targeted cancer treatment are developed.
We are looking for an enthusiastic PhD student who is interested in basic and translational research and enjoys teamwork. The successful applicant will work in an international team with scientists and PhD students on a research project dealing with tumor immunology during lymphoma development and progression. The PhD thesis is embedded in a collaborative research project with partners from Greifswald, Heidelberg and Berlin and will include in vivo and in vitro studies.
Our requirements
The applicant should hold a Master’s degree in cancer biology/ immunology/molecular medicine or in a related field and initial experience with cancer research (e.g. in the context of internships or Bachelor’s/Master’s thesis). A high level of motivation, flexibility and responsibility as well as very good communication skills in English are expected. A background in animal experiments (documented by FELASA certificates) and in experimental techniques frequently used in our projects (e.g. flow cytometry; genome editing by CRISPR/Cas; high throughput sequencing analyses) is an advantage.
