Role Overview:
The Market Research Lead will lead Evotec’s market research strategy within the Competitive Intelligence function, acting as the primary driver of actionable insights on market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive positioning. This role is responsible for designing and implementing frameworks that monitor industry trends, market opportunities, and competitor strategies to inform strategic decisions across corporate and business segments. Reporting directly to the SVP, Head of Competitive Intelligence, the Director will collaborate closely with the CI Leadership Team to ensure market intelligence is fully integrated with science & commercial insights and business analytics, strengthening Evotec’s competitive advantage and supporting sustainable growth.
Responsibilities:
Market Research Strategy & Alignment
Define and execute Evotec’s market intelligence strategy in alignment with corporate priorities and business objectives.
Translate market trends and competitive signals into actionable recommendations for portfolio strategy, commercial positioning, and growth initiatives.
Support annual and long-range planning with market forecasts, opportunity assessments, and scenario analyses.
Competitive & Market Analysis
Lead comprehensive analysis of industry trends, therapeutic areas, and competitor strategies across global markets.
Monitor pricing benchmarks, business models, and partnership structures to inform Evotec’s commercial approach.
Deliver forward-looking insights on emerging technologies, regulatory shifts, and market disruptions impacting Evotec’s positioning.
Intelligence Integration & Collaboration
Work closely with the CI Leadership Team to integrate market intelligence with scientific insights and business analytics.
Partner with BD, Commercial Strategy, R&D and Operations teams to embed market insights into decision-making processes.
Support strategic projects such as portfolio prioritization, go-to-market strategies, and partnership evaluations.
Tools, Methodologies & Best Practices
Champion best practices in market intelligence methodologies, tools, and data sources.
Ensure governance and consistency in market data collection, validation, and reporting.
Drive adoption of advanced CI tools and platforms to enhance insight generation.
Strategic Communication & Leadership Support
Prepare and deliver high-impact reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior stakeholders.
Communicate complex market insights in a clear, actionable manner to diverse audiences.
Represent Market Research in internal forums as a thought leader.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, Economics, or related discipline; MBA preferred.
- Substantial experience in market intelligence, competitive intelligence, or strategic planning within biotech, pharma, or CRO/CDMO sectors.
Proven track record of delivering market insights that influence corporate strategy and commercial decisions.
Strong understanding of drug discovery and development value chain, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.
Proficiency in CI and market intelligence tools (e.g., Evaluate, GlobalData, Pitchbook), and BI platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
Ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage cross-functional projects in a global matrix environment.
Market Analysis Expertise: Strong capability in industry trend monitoring, competitor benchmarking, and scenario planning.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate market signals into actionable recommendations.
Tool Proficiency: CI and market intelligence platforms (Evaluate, GlobalData, Pitchbook).
Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with BD, R&D, Operations and Commercial Strategy.
Presentation Skills: Deliver high-impact reports and dashboards for senior stakeholders.
Adaptability: Navigate dynamic market conditions and regulatory changes.
