The Research Group focuses on the implementation of approaches to improve the clinical care of inpatients with a focus on snakebite envenoming and implementation of Point-Of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) in Southeast Asia and Africa.

Postdoc (m/f/d) - clinical implementation research

The Research Group focuses on the implementation of approaches to improve the clinical care of inpatients with a focus on snakebite envenoming and implementation of Point-Of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) in Southeast Asia and Africa.

Your Tasks:
- Planning and implementation of studies to improve the clinical care of inpatients in Southeast Asia and Africa
- Preparation and analysis of scientific data
- Writing scientific texts and publications
- Design and coordination of field activities in Africa and Southeast Asia
- Obtain external funding at DFG, BMBF, EU etc.
- Support and extension of international, national and regional cooperation of BNITM
- Supervision of students and PhD candidates from Hamburg and from our international partner institutions
- Taking responsibility for personnel, budget, and administration
- Close, multidisciplinary cooperation with departments and working groups of the BNITM
Your Profile:
- Motivated scientist with an MD or PhD in Medicine, Epidemiology, Public Health or related disciplines
- Research interest in the countries of the African and Asian partner institutions of BNITM
- Willingness and ability to travel abroad for shorter periods to support field research in Southeast Asia and Africa (approx. 2 months per year)
- Prior knowledge in quantitative data analysis (ideally using R and/or Stata)
- Experience in planning and performance of scientific studies
- Experience in publishing results in international journals
- Experience in obtaining external funds is beneficial
- Very good knowledge of English language. Additional knowledge of German and French is beneficial
