Research assistant in the field of science management

DESY is developing PETRA IV, the ultimate 4D X-ray microscope for nanotechnology research, offering significant benefits to scientific and industrial users and providing valuable insights into energy research, information technology, mobility, the environment, and medicine. PETRA IV will enable experiments to be conducted at the highest resolution on relevant length, time and energy scales, with all possibilities for in-situ/operando analysis.
Many cutting-edge technologies and software tools need to be developed and managed in preparation of and within the PETRA IV project for the future photon beamlines and instrumentation. A team of scientists, engineers and technicians are working together on different scientific and technical projects within the photon science division as part of the PETRA IV project. We are looking for a motivated scientific manager to coordinate and manage scientific and technical projects, as well as being directly involved in developing concepts and contributing own ideas and visions.
About your role:
- Coordination and management of scientific and technical projects at PETRA Ill and within the PETRA IV project
- Support in the realisation of projects and involvement in concept development
- Preparation of reports and documents (progress reports, documentation of meetings, statistics, decision templates)
- Coordinating and managing the exchange of information between the working groups and specialized departments involved
- Preparation of project presentations

About you:
- University degree in physics or engineering science or a comparable subject or equivalent skills and experience
- Completed doctorate in physics or related fields
- Good scientific and technical expertise in the field of synchrotron instrumentation
- Project management expertise in the technical design of synchrotron beamlines and/or experiments
- Knowledge of project management in an international context
- Experience with the development of synchrotron instrumentation
- Experience in science management and research in an international context or abroad
- Experience in the development, coordination and evaluation of scientific projects
- Strong teamwork skills in an international environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organisational skills
- Very good command of written and spoken English
