What you will do

As a Research Scientist – Acrylic UV Syrup, you will play a key role in advancing tesa ’s UV-curable pressure sensitive adhesive technologies. You will lead the development of innovative, solvent-free acrylic polymer systems and translate scientific concepts into scalable formulations for laboratory and pilot plant implementation. Acting as a technical expert and project lead, you will work closely with interdisciplinary internal teams as well as external partners to strengthen tesa ’s technology leadership and sustainability ambitions in UV-based adhesive systems.

Your tasks include:

  • Development of innovative and sustainable adhesive systems based on solvent-free acrylic polymers and formulations

  • Systematic development, consolidation, and expansion of know-how in the field of radical photopolymerization for pressure sensitive adhesives

  • Application of broad expertise in organic and inorganic fillers to fine-tune adhesive performance profiles

  • Scientific conception, evaluation, and implementation of new technology concepts in close collaboration with adjacent departments, suppliers, and external cooperation partners

  • Coordination and implementation of new UV-based formulations at laboratory and pilot plant scale

  • Independent execution of projects, feasibility studies, and technology evaluations within interdisciplinary teams

  • Active support of securing research and development results through intellectual property (IP) activities

What you will need

  • Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (with or without PhD) with strong expertise in polymer chemistry, photopolymerization, and/or organic synthesis

  • Initial professional experience in radical polymerization and pressure sensitive adhesive technologies

  • Strong hands-on experience and confidence in preparative laboratory work

  • Ability to quickly grasp, assess, and translate novel chemical concepts into viable technical solutions

  • Independent, structured, and analytical working style combined with strong team orientation

  • Assertive personality with excellent organizational, communication, and networking skills

  • Confidence in presenting laboratory results and technical concepts at internal and external forums

  • Excellent English skills and basic German language proficiency
