The ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics (www.zbw.eu) is the world’s largest information centre for economic literature. The institution holds more than 4 million media units and enables access to millions of online documents in economics. The ZBW is a research-based academic library and a member of the Leibniz Association. In addition, the ZBW is scientifically affiliated to the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel.
The JDA Replication Lab is a joint project of departments C4 – Digital Economics, C2 – Publication Services, and D1 – Information Services and Publishing Technologies, funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. The goal of the project is to pilot an environment that enables economics journals to efficiently conduct reproducibility checks.
We are looking for
student assistants (with or without Bachelor)
at the Hamburg or Kiel location for the JDA Replication Lab in the department of Digital Economics (C4) .
The position is initially for one year with the option of extension in accordance with the Scientific Fixed-Term Contract Act (WissZeitVG). The monthly working time is 30 to 40 hours/month . The hourly remuneration amounts to 14,- € for student assistants without Bachelor degree ("studentische Hilfskräfte”) and to 15,- € for student assistants with a Bachelor degree ("wissenschaftliche Hilfskräfte”).
Your tasks:
- Participation in a compulsory introductory course on 13.10 and 14.10.25 at the University of Hamburg with the first Data Editor of the American Economic Association
- Check program codes of research papers that are published or submitted for publication in R or Stata
- Documentation of feedback on the program code
- Participation in a regular online discussion (every 1 to 2 weeks) with colleagues
Your profile:
Essential
- Enrolled in a degree program at a German university
- At least Basic knowledge of programming in R or Stata, with an interest in acquiring further skills on the job
- A careful and independent way of working
- Good command of English
Desirable
- Good knowledge of mathematics, computer science, statistics, or empirical economic and social research
- Interest in economic research or Open Science
