Join Atlantic Fruit GmbH, a young and dynamic fresh produce importer based in Hamburg. We specialise in fair and sustainable supply chains for exotic fruits such as limes, coconuts, sweet potatoes and passion fruit, serving demanding European and UK retail and wholesale markets. We are looking for an experienced Trader – Fresh Produce to own and grow a portfolio of exotic fruits with retailers, wholesalers, and foodservice customers across Europe and the UK.
In this role, you will manage the full trading cycle: sourcing from growers and exporters, pricing and negotiation, deal execution, and coordination with logistics and quality. You will be a central driver of Atlantic Fruit’s growth story.
Tasks
Portfolio Ownership
- Own a defined book of customers and suppliers for key exotic fruits.
- Plan volumes and programs in collaboration with growers, exporters, and customers.
- Monitor portfolio performance and take actions to protect and grow GM.
Sourcing, Pricing & Negotiation
- Negotiate purchase and sales prices, terms, and programs with partners.
- Set and adjust prices based on market movements and risk assessment.
- Evaluate and manage credit, quality, and logistics risks in each deal.
Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Track market trends, competitor moves, and customer developments.
- Share insights with the team and propose tactical/strategic actions.
- Support the Head of Trading in category and customer strategies.
Execution & Coordination
- Work with logistics, quality, and back-office teams to ensure smooth shipments.
- Resolve issues quickly when they arise (delays, quality, documentation).
- Maintain accurate and timely CRM and system updates for all deals.
Requirements
- 3–7 years of experience in fresh produce industry (trading or sales).
- Proven track record of delivering GM targets and managing commercial risk.
- Strong negotiation skills and relationship-building ability across cultures.
- Fluent English; German or other European languages are a plus.
- Strong numerical skills and comfort working with spreadsheets and KPIs.
- Ability to travel to suppliers, customers, and trade fairs as needed.
