Job Description:
In order to support Airbus we are looking for a
Transportation Manager - Operations (d/f/m)
We are looking for a dynamic Manager, Global Transport Operations to act as the guardian of our global transport performance. In this role, you will move beyond traditional dispatching to focus on the governance of our external partners and the satisfaction of our customers.
You will be the primary interface between Satair’s business requirements and our external logistics providers (3PL/4PL), ensuring that our global supply chain runs with precision, compliance, and speed. You will serve as the operational escalation point and the voice of the business within logistics projects.
Satair is a key part of the Airbus Customer Services unit and a $3 billion-turnover global company (100% subsidiary of Airbus) with more than 1,700 employees, operating from 10 locations worldwide. Satair is a world leader in the commercial aerospace aftermarket business. Satair provides genuine OEM and Airbus parts distribution and offers an exhaustive and innovative multi-fleet service portfolio to OEMs and customers.
At Satair, we're working to be the most customer-centric organization in providing commercial aviation spares parts to make the world continue flying. We’re constantly taking "customer experience” to new levels by improving how we fulfill and deliver customers’ orders quickly and accurately, anywhere in the world. To meet this goal, Satair is continually striving to innovate and provide best-in-class service levels by pioneering new products and services in a fast growing business environment.
Your location
You will be working at Hamburg - Fuhlsbüttel. Experience the special flair of Hamburg in your spare time where vibrant cosmopolitan culture meets nautic legacy.
Your benefits
Attractive salary and special payments
30 days paid vacation and extra days-off for special occasions
Excellent upskilling opportunities and great international, group wide development prospects
Special benefits: employer-funded pension, employee stock options, discounted car leasing, special conditions for insurances, transportation subsidy, employee benefits at cooperating companies
On-site-facilities: Kindergarten close to the site, medical officer for check-ups and other health-related services, canteen and cafeteria
Compatibility of family & work (job sharing, part-time models, flexible working hours, individual timeout)
Working in a diverse environment, with more than 140 nationalities, where every voice is heard
Your tasks and responsibilities
Service Provider Management: You manage and monitor the performance of global Transport Service Providers (3PLs/Integrators). Conduct regular performance reviews (QBRs/MBRs) to ensure adherence to SLAs, costs, and quality standards.
Operational Performance & Governance: You oversee the high-level execution of shipments, acting not as a dispatcher, but as the controller of the process. Ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations across our global network.
Customer & Stakeholder Management: You act as the primary Transport Partner for internal Sales, Customer Order Desk, and Procurement teams. Translate customer needs into logistics solutions and ensure the "Voice of the Customer" is heard in operational decisions.
Specialized Logistics Solutions: You serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and coordinator for complex logistics challenges, including AOG (Aircraft on Ground), Oversize/Out-of-Gauge shipments, and critical project cargo.
Project Representation: You represent the business perspective in cross-functional projects. Ensure that operational realities are considered when new processes or tools are being deployed.
Desired skills and qualifications
A degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration or equivalent
3 - 5+ years of experience in transportation management, freight forwarding, or logistics procurement.
Supplier Management: Proven track record in managing external service providers (3PL/4PL) and strong negotiation skills.
Operational Knowledge: Deep understanding of air, ocean, road, and courier transport modes, including handling of dangerous goods and customs procedures.
Mindset: You have a "Governance Mindset"—you don't just fix problems; you analyze the root cause to prevent them from recurring.
Fluent in English and German (negotiating level). Ability to communicate complex logistics issues to non-logistics stakeholders clearly.
You remain calm under pressure, are customer-obsessed, and enjoy working in a diverse, global team environment.
You are a relationship builder who bridges the gap between operational logistics and commercial business needs.
You possess strong conflict resolution skills and can hold vendors accountable while maintaining a partnership approach.
You thrive in an international environment and are comfortable collaborating with colleagues across different time zones and cultures.
Not a 100% match? No worries! Airbus supports your personal growth with customized development solutions.
This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
