Job Description
We are strengthening our Innovation Lab department at the Hanover location as soon as possible with a master's thesis - Development and evaluation of hybrid machine learning methods for determining the articulation angle of commercial vehicle combinations.
Main tasks
- Literature research on methods for determining the articulation angle of commercial vehicle combinations as well as on the theoretical foundations of hybrid approaches combining physical and learning-based methods
- Selection of machine learning models and physically based models for determining the articulation angle with different input variables (e.g. camera image, kinematic variables)
- Implementation, methodological extension and training based on simulation and (augmented) real data
- Evaluation of the approaches with regard to common quality criteria (e.g. accuracy) under different boundary conditions (e.g. geometry of the trailer, number of axles, vehicle mass, weather conditions) as well as documentation of the developed methods
- Studies in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, computer science or a comparable field
- Experience in (learning-based) machine vision and/or system modeling
- Previous knowledge of the Python programming language and common machine learning libraries (PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras, etc.)
- Good written and spoken German and English skills
