Your team:

The OX Cloud team is at the heart of Open-Xchange to make millions of users worldwide happy by supplying them our open-source products. We collaborate with various engineering teams to automate deployment processes, increase system reliability, and enhance scalability. We drive various non-functional features of our products like availability, reliability, security, and observability in close collaboration with all the other engineering teams. Yes, this is a very communicative team.

Technology-wise, we work with Linux, Kubernetes, and various components of the CNCF ecosystem, such as Prometheus and Grafana. We use automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Chef, as well as a mix of databases including key-value stores and MariaDB/MySQL with Galera clustering. For object storage, we rely on S3. Our CI/CD pipelines are managed with GitLab (gitlab-ci), and we use PagerDuty for incident management. Our scripting languages of choice are Python and Shell.

Right now, we are on a journey towards a more wholehearted approach to DevOps and transforming our engineering organization.

As our new team member, you would:

  • automate the provisioning of infrastructure, products and configuration with tools like Terraform, Ansible and Helm in collaboration with other engineering teams,
  • run our production environments,
  • operate containerized applications on Kubernetes and consult others with Helm-based deployments,
  • contribute to the management and optimization of storage and database infrastructure,
  • join our on-call rotation to handle incidents and improve overall system reliability,
  • collaborate closely with developers and other teams to ensure smooth integration, delivery and operations across all stages of the product lifecycle.

You need to have:

  • an intrinsic motivation to take ownership and a passion for open-source technologies to succeed in our world without a lot of hierarchy,
  • solid experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, Ansible and Helm,
  • practical experience operating Kubernetes clusters and containerized workloads,
  • contributed to CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab or Jenkins,
  • troubleshooting distributed systems running on Linux,
  • engaged with some of our databases and storage solutions,
  • have a solid understanding of how to actively communicate in a remote-first environment.

This is what you get at Open-Xchange:

  • The flexibility to work 100% remotely ensures a work environment that suits you best.
  • Flexible working hours that allow you to successfully combine your home and family responsibilities with work.
  • Stay up to date with the latest tech, by working on modern private cloud software in a dynamic, international team.
  • Sharing ideas and collaborating with each other to drive the company's success is part of our DNA.
  • Getting together in-person for workshops and fun team events.
  • Time off to volunteer – and mental health support when you need it.
  • We provide financial relief through corporate benefits and a subsidy for ergonomic chairs and desks.
  • We can discuss further location-related benefits together in an initial talk.
