The Position:

The Payroll Business Operations Specialist independently leads and delivers medium to large-scale projects within the payroll domain. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end projects and coordinating with cross-functional teams. The Specialist performs impact analysis, risk assessments, and change management while identifying process gaps and connecting data insights to operational improvements. They play a key role in driving efficiency, supporting strategic goals, and maintaining alignment with compliance and governance standards.

Key Requirements:

    • Intermediate experience in payroll operations, business operations, or project/program management
    • Proven experience managing medium to large-scale projects and workstreams independently
    • Strong working knowledge of payroll processes, compliance considerations, and risk management
    • Proficiency in tools such as Notion, Monday.com (Champion level), Slack, Microsoft Office, Zendesk, and BI and Analytics tools (like Sigma)
    • Training or certification in Project Management, Compliance, or advanced tooling (e.g., Monday.com, Notion, Zendesk)
    • Ability to conduct impact analysis, map processes, and translate data insights into actionable improvements
    • Skilled in cross-functional coordination, stakeholder management, and structured communication
    • Comfortable managing project complexity, ambiguity, and competing priorities
    • Demonstrated ability to identify, propose, and test process and automation enhancements

Key Responsibilities:

      • Lead and supports 3-5 medium to large projects and workstreams, from planning through execution and delivery
      • Provide weekly updates in the required format, including reporting risks, issues, dependencies, and items requiring senior leadership action
      • Perform impact analysis and risk assessments, ensuring effective change management and documentation
      • Facilitate stakeholder alignment by running syncs, workshops, and status updates across payroll and cross-functional teams (e.g., Product, Legal, Tax, HR)
      • Identify inefficiencies and propose process improvements, automations, or tooling enhancements
      • Use data to inform decisions and optimize operations; connect insights to process performance and compliance goals
      • Develop and maintain key documentation, including project plans, SOPs, and dashboards
      • Escalate blockers, recommend solutions, and proactively manage issues to maintain progress
      • Support the creation and improvement of governance structures, workflows, and templates
      • Guide junior team members or act as a point of contact for specific tools, workflows, or projects

The actual base pay for the successful candidate in this role is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range may be subject to change.

Therefore, all compensation changes associated with an internal move will be reviewed by the Total Rewards & People Enablement team on a case by case basis.

The annual salary range for this full-time position is
$92,000 — $103,000 USD
