Job Description:
"Molecular Biology and Sequencing Specialist"Employment: as Chemical-Technical Assistant (CTA) VwGr IIIa (20 hours/week), Institute of Microbiology, University of Innsbruck, Austria, starting January 19, 2026.
Description: We are seeking a molecular biology technician with hands-on experience in sequencing technologies. The ideal candidate will be proficient in cutting-edge molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and sequencing workflows (e.g., Oxford Nanopore, Illumina, or similar platforms). Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and a passion for innovation in genomics are essential.Main responsibilities:
- Molecular biology tasks
- DNA sequencing (e.g., Oxford Nanopore)
- Management of user data
- Procurement and disposal of consumables and chemicals
- Data analysis and report preparation
Required qualifications:
- High school diploma (Matura) or equivalent qualification
- Training as a Technical Assistant (TA), Medical Technical Assistant (MTA), or Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), or equivalent education
- Skills in molecular biology (e.g., DNA/RNA extraction, PCR)
- Willingness to work in the mornings (starting at 8:00 AM) is desirable
- Teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently
- Organizational talent
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with DNA sequencing (e.g., Oxford Nanopore)

For this position in job group IIIa, a minimum gross salary of € 1.350 per month (14 times)
