Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Differentiation of human iPS cells into alveolar epithelial cells (type I and II), endothelial cells, and macrophages
- Establishment of a complex, immune-competent lung model in a microfluidic Organ-on-Chip system with an air-liquid interface
- Development and standardization of an S. aureus infection model
- Design and execution of infection experiments
- Evaluation of nanoparticle-encapsulated antibiotic combinations and development of a multiparametric diagnostic scoring system
- Close collaboration with interdisciplinary project partners from academia and industry
- Preparation of SOPs, data analysis, and support of system integration into an automated diagnostic platform
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Completed university degree (Diploma/Master) in life sciences, molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or related disciplines
- Practical experience in cell culture, ideally with iPSCs or primary cells
- Experience with microbiological techniques, especially involving pathogenic bacteria (e.g., S. aureus), is advantageous
- Proficiency in molecular biology or imaging techniques (e.g., RT-qPCR, ELISA, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy)
- Strong interest in translational infection research, organ-on-chip technologies, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Independent and structured working style with a willingness to learn complex methodologies
- Excellent written and spoken English and German

- Classification is based on TV-L in pay grade E13. Remuneration is within the salary range (4.600 €- 5.200 € gross ) if the personal and collective agreement requirements are met and corresponds to the classification for full-time employment.
