Description
As Lead HSE Engineer, you will be responsible for the management and execution of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) activities for complex power plant projects. You will focus on process safety, authority management, and the performance of safety studies such as HAZOP, LOPA, and risk assessments. Experience in noise emission studies and calculations is a strong advantage. You will ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, and drive continuous improvement in HSE performance.

Your Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage HSE activities for power plant projects, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and customer requirements
- Perform process safety studies (HAZOP, LOPA, SIL assessments, risk analyses) and manage authority engineering and regulatory submissions for HSE topics
- Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and training programs; conduct noise emission studies and calculations
- Support environmental impact assessments and mitigation strategies, collaborating with engineering, project management, construction, and site teams to ensure safe project execution
- Prepare and present HSE reports, KPIs, and documentation for management and stakeholders; mentor junior HSE staff and interface with customers, contractors, and authorities
- Drive continuous improvement in HSE performance and culture
Your Profile:
- Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Safety Management, or related field (BSc, MSc, Dipl.-Ing., or equivalent)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in HSE engineering for EPC projects, preferably in power plant or industrial construction
- Proven expertise in process safety, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, risk assessments, authority management, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to perform noise emission studies and calculations using relevant tools and standards
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, EN, local regulations)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Fluent in German and English (business level)
- HSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, TÜV) is an advantage; experience with HSE management systems and safety software
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills; high attention to detail and quality
