The Position
Network & Capabilities Chapter Lead
The Clinical Distribution organization’s objective is to cost-effectively ensure the right product is in the right place at the right time, every time, such that no patient will go without treatment and no clinical trial will be delayed. The Network & Capabilities Chapter Lead ensures organizational readiness for the Clinical Distribution team and delivers the needed capabilities to enable Roche’s R&D portfolio delivery.
The Chapter Lead for Network & Capabilities is a key member of the Clinical Distribution Enabling Team, which is jointly accountable for all elements of clinical supply chain distribution for the global Roche/Genentech portfolio of >500 studies. The global Network & Capability chapter is responsible for the logistics framework and setup to enable optimized and reliable clinical distribution for all studies (with more than 100k shipments yearly across >130 countries), through effective use of industry leading clinical distribution strategies, processes and systems. The Chapter Lead is a functional leader, responsible for managing and coaching a team of Network & Capability Managers and the operational Logistic Squad - next to operating the global distribution network (with more than 20 warehouses and depots) including full budget oversight and accountability.
The Opportunity
Leads the network & capabilities team (ca. 10 people) - responsible for the distribution network to enable global operations (>100k shipments per year), right first time, in full and at optimized costs
Defines the network & capabilities chapter strategy in line with the overall distribution strategy and is responsible for strategy execution (e.g. establish new countries and locations, business tender, etc.)
Responsible for the full distribution cost and spend (>70mCHF / year)
In partnership with the study management chapter, has full portfolio oversight and ensures reliable and efficient distribution for all global Roche/Genentech clinical trials - Understands the need for future network capabilities based on portfolio development and trends.
In collaboration with the enabling team and Business Capability Leads, drives for best practises, standardization and optimization of distribution network processes, with a focus on ensuring supply chain reliability and optimization for a scope of 500+ clinical studies
Responsible for developing a high performing team incl. defining and setting the objectives for the global network & capabilities chapter
Who you are
10+ years operational experience in Supply Chain / Distribution / Planning and/or manufacturing, including (senior) leadership roles
Significant experience in (clinical) supply chain management
Negotiation skills and external partner & account management (SRM)
Experience in matrix and cross-functional organizational leadership is preferred
Education
Degree (BA, MS, MBA) in a technical, business or supply chain field or associated relevant experience
APICS and/or SCOR certification, or associated relevant experience
Operational Excellence/Six Sigma/Lean training a plus
