Über diesen Job

Salary: Business Studies and Economics With about 17,000 students, more than 300 professorships and around 160 degree programs, the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) is the technical university of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. As a place of top international research, it offers excellent working conditions and career opportunities. Those who study, research or work at RPTU experience a cosmopolitan environment and shape the future. The School of Business and Economics at RPTU is a key pillar of research and teaching and maintains close cooperation with other departments. The department is guided in both research and teaching by its mission statement "Shaping a Digital and Sustainable Future." Your tasks include:
We are seeking applications from candidates who represent the field of Microeconomics and Artificial Intelligence in research and teaching. Teaching responsibilities include the delivery of courses at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and doctoral levels, primarily in English, for students in business-related study programs (especially Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, and Business Administration with technical specialization), as well as for students from other disciplines. In addition, active participation in the new interdisciplinary study program Data Analytics in Economics and Business is required. Research should address economic questions with a methodological focus on theoretical microeconomics, with possible specializations in areas such as game theory, mechanism design, information economics, or contract theory. Experience in analyzing topics at the intersection of microeconomics and artificial intelligence – whether as methodological approaches or thematic focus areas—is explicitly welcomed; in the medium term, such a research orientation is expected. Your profile:
Applicants are expected to demonstrate academic excellence (evidenced through publications in internationally leading journals), didactic skills and teaching experience, a willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration in teaching and research, and active participation in academic self-governance. A willingness to acquire external research funding is required; experience in securing competitive third-party funding is desirable. We expect you to be able to connect to the mission statement "Shaping a Digital and Sustainable Future", which also includes interdisciplinary cooperation with other subject areas of the department as well as reseachers at the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Computer Science. We also expect candidates to contribute to the department’s structured doctoral program. Knowledge of the German language is not initially required, but professors are expected to be able to give lectures in German within the first 3 years of their appointment. The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and RPTU advocate a supervision concept in which a high level of presence of teaching staff at the university location is expected. In addition to the general employment requirements, the employment requirements set out in Section 49 of the Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Education Act apply. RPTU stands for the diversity of all employees. We welcome applications from all interested parties, regardless of their ethnic and social origin, age, religion, gender, disability and sexual orientation or identity. Severely disabled persons and persons with equivalent status will be given preference if they are suitably qualified and suitable (please enclose proof of severe disability/equal status with your application). RPTU strives to increase the proportion of women in areas in which women are underrepresented. Applications from female and male scientists from abroad are expressly encouraged. Your application:
We look forward to receiving your complete application, including the documents listed at https://wiwi.rptu.de/bewerbung , by 20.09.2025 . Please submit your application via the "Online Bewerbung” button or through our application portal ( https://rptu.de/ueber-die-rptu/stellenangebote-und-karriere ).
