Our products are a key enabling technology for optical links in AI factories and thus experience a strong demand.
We are looking for an Application Engineer to join our customer solutions team in Karlsruhe. In this role, you will focus on understanding customer requirements and translating them into a final product. Your responsibilities will include optical design, handling RMAs, and developing customized quality control capabilities in response to specific customer requests.
You will act as the interface between the customer and the production team to ensure a smooth transition of application engineering projects into volumetric production, which directly influences the success of the company. You will have access to a cleanroom environment equipped with optical setups and 3D laser printing systems, and you will work closely with the R&D and production teams.

Tasks
- Implement application engineering projects
- Serve as the technical point of contact for customer inquiries, helping to provide the best solutions for our customers
- Work closely with the R&D team to develop and validate new product functionalities
- Build and develop novel optical setups based on the customer's request
- Handle RMAs
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Physics or Engineering
- At least 2 years of industrial hands-on experience in silicon photonics, preferably in the testing industry
- Knowledge of CAD design (Autodesk Fusion, Inventor, or similar)
- Knowledge of ZEMAX
- Understanding of wave optics, optical fibers, optical setups, and light propagation
- Very good English comprehension
