Mobile robots depend on sensing and control, but also on their mechanical structure to enable reliable and efficient motion in real-world environments. Mechanical components such as chassis, suspension systems, leg or wheel configurations, and structural elements determine the robot’s stability, mobility, load-bearing capacity, and ability to cope with uneven terrain. The mechanical design directly influences locomotion performance, energy efficiency, and robustness under varying environmental conditions. Further, it dictates which motions and capabilities are even possible in the first place. Your Task and Research Challenges:
- Design, fabrication and testing of additional hardware for walking robots
- CAD modeling and testing, mostly for 3D printing
- Assist in the development, modification, and testing of mechanical components
- Research, select, and order hardware components and standard mechanical parts
- Assemble, commission, and maintain laboratory tools, machines, and prototyping equipment
- Support the practical course "CAD Engineering Project for Intelligent Systems” What we offer:
- You'll get to learn a lot about our current research and gain real hands-on experience.
- We use the latest robotics hardware
- We are a team of international, motivated robotics enthusiasts and would be happy to have you join us
- You will get encouraging support from your supervisor and honest feedback to improve your skills
- We offer flexible working hours and a great working environment in our MaiRo Lab Do you want to work on cutting edge robotics research?
Beschreibung
Advances in robotics and artificial intelligence are rapidly transforming how autonomous systems are designed, which hardware is required and how they interact with their environment. These advances enable robots, e.g. walking robots, to perform increasingly complex tasks in challenging environments. For that robots of the future will not only require state of the art software, but also modern design.
