Scientific Content & Knowledge Engineering, Working Student (m/f/d)
Über diesen Job
Hey there! We're datin GmbH, a vibrant startup based in Karlsruhe. We are on a mission to revolutionize the world of Research & Development with our cutting-edge AI-native infrastructure.
We believe that AI will only accelerate science if it is built on a foundation of structured, high-quality information. We are the architects of that foundation.
We are looking for a student from the natural or engineering sciences who wants to move beyond the lab bench and shape the future of digital R&D. In this role, you won’t just be handling data; you will be designing the semantic bridges that connect isolated scientific discoveries. You will help define how machines understand science, creating the "connective tissue" that transforms raw information into a powerful Knowledge Graph.
Tasks
- Strategic Knowledge Integration: Identify high-value dataset sources and design the logic to integrate them into our platform, ensuring data from different scientific fields can finally "talk" to each other.
- Content Design: Create the structural frameworks for our clients. This involves designing specialized Glossaries and Data Templates that define how researchers capture and organize their experiments.
- Method Development: Develop the concepts and file parsers needed to translate unstructured research outputs (papers, raw files) into FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) digital assets.
- FAIR Data Enablement: Act as a consultant for the scientific community, supporting researchers in adopting FAIR principles and preparing their data for the AI era.
Requirements
- Educational Background: Currently enrolled in a Natural Science (Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science) or Engineering degree. You understand the complexity of scientific data.
- Structural Thinking: You enjoy thinking in abstract patterns and systems. You don't just see numbers; you see the relationships between them.
- Technical Foundations: Familiarity with scripting (e.g., Python) to implement the integration methods you design.
- Communication: Strong ability to communicate complex concepts, both to our internal team and to external researchers.
- Bonus: An interest in Semantic Web technologies (Knowledge Graphs, Ontologies) or Library/Information Science is a major plus.
Benefits
- Above-average compensation
- Flexible working hours
- Free beverages
- Public transportation benefits
- Remote work
- Travel expenses compensation
