Your Responsibilities
The Kicheva group studies vertebrate neural tube development, focusing on the role of morphogens. We are interested in the feedbacks between tissue growth, pattern formation and morphogenesis. To study these questions, we use mouse and chick embryos, as well as stem cell differentiation and organoids. Our research integrates a range of approaches, including genetics, genomics, immunohistochemistry, live imaging, quantitative analysis, and biophysical modeling.The position involves supporting team members to advance the group’s research and maintaining and assuring the overall efficient running of the laboratory. We are looking for a proactive team member to support us with the following tasks:
- molecular biology support, including design and generation of transgenic cell lines, next generation sequencing techniques
- culture and differentiation of embryonic stem cells and organoids
- mouse and chick embryo work, as well as overseeing the maintenance of our mouse colony
- histology, cell and tissue sample processing, and light microscopy
- training new users
- support users with using laboratory infrastructure, implementation of new equipment, and assistance in experimental setups
- lab organization (managing stocks, ordering consumables, keeping databases up to date, etc.)
Your Profile
- Completed M.Sc. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Neurobiology, or other relevant fields
- Proven hands-on experience in cell and molecular biology
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of molecular cloning and cell culture
- Experience in working with embryonic stem cells and mouse embryos is an advantage
- Strong organizational skills, reliability, a sense of responsibility, and a team-player attitude
- Proactive personality with a solution-oriented approach
- Proficiency in English with exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
