Job descriptionAs aData Engineer (m/f/d) specializing in Databricks,you will be a crucial part of our data-driven solutions. You will develop modern data pipelines, support architectural decisions, and ensure that data flows where it is needed – cleanly, efficiently, and scalably.
You will work on exciting projects related to Lakehouse architectures, data pipelines and cloud platforms – and will have plenty of creative freedom.
Your tasks:
- Building and further developing modern data pipelines based on Databricks, Spark and Delta Lake
- Modeling and structuring of data for analytics, BI and AI use cases
- Integration of different data sources (structured, semi-structured, unstructured)
- Support in the design and implementation of lakehouse architecture
- Orchestration and automation of pipelines (e.g., Databricks jobs)
- Collaboration with data scientists, BI developers and customer teams
- Ensuring performance, stability & observability
What you bring (must-have skills)
We focus on what really matters:
Core Engineering
- Excellent knowledge of Spark, Delta Lake and PySpark
- Experience in building ETL/ELT pipelines (ideally medallion architecture)
- Experience with Azure services such as ADLS and Azure Data Factory
- Confident handling of Git and CI/CD workflows (e.g. Azure DevOps)
- Fundamentals of data modeling (Star Schema, 3NF or Data Vault)
Platform & Orchestration
- Experience with Databricks jobs, pipelines, or similar orchestration mechanisms
working method
- Quality awareness: You want to build clean, maintainable data solutions.
- Willingness to develop yourself further and learn new things
- Communication on equal terms – within the team and with the customer
- Excellent German skills (for customer dialogue, workshops & team communication)
Nice to have (not a must, but a plus)
- Streaming (Structured Streaming, Kafka)
- MLflow
- Power BI or dbt
- Experience with multiple clouds (AWS/GCP Databricks)
- Cluster Management & Cost Optimization
- Data governance (e.g. Unity Catalog or role models)
