The "Muscle Metabolism and Ageing” group is interested in understanding the regula-tion of anabolic and catabolic processes in skeletal muscle ageing, with a particular focus on the contribution of mTORC1 signaling. We are seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral fellow with a PhD (or near completion) in molecular or cellular biology, biochemistry or a related field. The ideal candidate should be capable of work-ing independently, bringing commitment, critical thinking and a problem-solving mindset to the group.
The Minerva Fast Track Research Group "Muscle Metabolism and Ageing” headed by Dr. Stephanie A. Fernandes is looking for a full time
Your tasks:
Investigate the role of mTORC1 and lysosomes in muscle physiology and ageing
Design and perform molecular studies on iPSC-derived skeletal muscle cells and aged mouse models
Independently analyze data and develop innovative experiments
Support the preparation of funding proposals, fellowship applications and publications
Present research findings at internal seminars and international conferences
Stay up to date with relevant literature
Supervise junior scientists
Your qualifications:
Strong track record of scientific accomplishments is essential
Prior hands-on experience in cell culture, mouse work, biochemical assays, metabolomics or microscopy is highly desirable
We particularly value individuals who work well in a team and think creatively
A FELASA certificate for work with laboratory animals would be considered a strong asset
Candidates with expertise in skeletal muscle biology, lysosome biology and/or human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technology will be given preferential consideration
Experience in supervising or mentoring junior lab members, such as master's or undergraduate students, is considered a strong asset and reflects the collabora-tive spirit we foster in our team
Our offer:
A performance-related salary in accordance with the TVöD Bund and a company pension scheme (VBL)
A great working atmosphere in a motivated and friendly team, the opportunity for regular further training and a targeted induction programme
Good work-life-balance, flexible working hours
Family-friendly workplace: Parent-child room, support through the Max Planck family office and an external family service company; daycare places available via daycare centre partnerships
Fitness room and discounts at local fitness centres
Very good public transport connections and a discounted and subsidised Germany job ticket
The employment contract is based on the TVöD-Bund (collective agreement for the public service) and will run until August 2029.
