I am working with a fantastic client in Malta who are looking for Head of Design to join them. As the Head of Design, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of design and airworthiness compliance under EASA Part 21 Subpart J regulations

Role: Head of Design
Salary: On Application
Contract: Permanent - Part time 20 hours per week
Location: Malta/Remote

Responsibilities: -

• That the design organization is continuously in compliance with the requirements of the Design Management System.
• That the Design Organization is continuously in compliance with procedures specified in the Design Organization Handbook (DOH).
• The control and allocation of work and personnel within the design organization.
• Determining the necessary resources for the proper functioning of the design organization.
• Ensuring that the design organization properly discharges its responsibilities in accordance with the appropriate regulations of EASA Part-21 and its terms of approval.
• Overall technical responsibility for the design organisation's design engineering deliverables.
• Continued airworthiness support and safety of the product designed, changed or repaired by the design organisation.
• Reviewing and ensuring the adequacy of the on-going training requirements for staff.
• Creation and maintenance of records of design staff.
• Developing and disseminating a safety policy and safety objectives.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

• Bachelor's Degree within Electrical/Avionic or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering.
• Proven knowledge of the relevant Part-21 requirements.
• Thorough knowledge of the relevant certification specifications. Management skills (leadership, organisation, social competence).
• At minimum 7 years' experience at a responsible position (e.g. as CVE, Project Manager, etc.) in the aviation sector.
• Highly attentive to detail.
• Being a team player.
• Good command of spoken and written Maltese and English.
