What does the role involve?

• Responsible for process development, verification, and qualification of the existing and new joining processes for battery cells and packs, with a focus on resistance welding & laser welding
• Lead early validation of process maturity for joining technologies to reduce time-to-market and industrialization risks
• Investigate and evaluate emerging joining technologies for future battery production
• Technical leadership as a technology and process expert, providing guidance and consulting to cross-functional teams in battery development projects
• Hands-on support in implementing joining solutions, working closely with product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance
• Support for the industrialization of joining technologies, solving production-related challenges and transferring lab-scale processes into mass production
• Drive standardization and structured knowledge transfer across teams and projects
• Coordinate and manage operations within the Battery Technical Centre, ensuring efficient planning and execution
of prototype builds for trials, testing, and validation activities.

What you need is:

• Extensive expertise and practical experience with joining technologies (e.g. Laser welding), ideally in battery applications
• Familiarity with battery manufacturing and prototyping environments
• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Material Science, Industrial Engineering or Process Engineering (PhD is a plus)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex, multi-project challenges
• Proven experience in leading technical teams, preferably in R&D or prototyping settings
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams and stakeholders
• A proactive, tech-savvy mindset with a drive for innovation and continuous improvement
• Fluency in English and German (spoken and written)
