In the Environmental Sustainability Assessment and Circularity (SUSTAIN) research unit, the LCSA group aims to support industry, policy, and society by developing science-based, sustainability methods and computational tools for life cycle sustainability assessment. Building on strong expertise in environmental LCA, the group now broadens its focus to include social and economic dimensions, as well as better industrial processes simulation, providing a holistic view of sustainability performance for products and services at different regional levels.
We are looking for a researcher with solid experience in sustainability assessment, with life-cycle assessment (LCA) as the central area of expertise. The successful candidate shall demonstrate deep knowledge of LCA methodology and tools, and show strong competencies in methodological development and application across various contexts. Additional experience in industrial ecology, material flow analysis, and in particular energy systems modelling, simulation, and mobility will be considered a strong asset. The candidate shall be equally comfortable with methodological and applied research and show a strong interest in contributing to the development of software prototypes, including their integration into broader platforms such as digital twins, and in transferring research outputs to society.
How will you contribute?
· Contribute to research and innovation (R&I) projects (both methodological and applied) in the field of LCA, in particular in the energy and mobility sectors
· Disseminate project results through publications in leading scientific journals and presentations at international conferences
· Contribute to the development of new research and innovation project proposals.

Education
· PhD in Environmental Sciences or equivalent
Experience and skills
· At least 3 years of post-doctoral experience in Academic and RTO environments
· Hard skills: Advanced knowledge of LCA methodologies (consequential, prospective, dynamic), Proficiency with LCA software tools (e.g., openLCA, SimaPro, Brightway, Activity Browser), Experience with LCA uncertainty, sensitivity analysis, and scenario modelling, Energy systems modelling and simulation (e.g., TIMES, OSeMOSYS, EnergyPLAN, PyPSA)
· Soft skills: Collaborative mindset , Strong communication skills, Openness to feedback, Conflict resolution, supportive attitude, adaptability, proactivity in team settings, knowledge sharing.
Language skills
· Fluency in English (and French), both oral and written. Other relevant languages are considered to be an asset.
