As Lead Engineer, you will be the technical cornerstone of your team – driving architectural excellence and ensuring our platform meets the highest standards of scalability, security, and reliability.

Your Role

• Own the architecture – Make key architectural decisions that fulfill scalability, reliability, maintainability, security, and business continuity requirements
• Shape the technical roadmap – Develop and maintain comprehensive architecture roadmaps aligned with business goals and technological advancements
• Ensure compliance and quality – Guarantee the product complies with industry standards, regulations, and best practices, particularly in data security and privacy
• Elevate design standards – Oversee design quality, enforce coding standards and design principles, and manage technical debt strategically
• Guide and mentor – Support team members in troubleshooting complex issues, conduct technical workshops, and foster a culture of continuous learning
• Evaluate technology – Research and select third-party tools, technologies, and vendors that align with technical requirements and business objectives
• Bridge communication – Translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and act as communication broker between the team and subject-specific working groups (QAA, EA)
• Collaborate cross-functionally – Work closely with Product Owners and Team Leads to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives, timelines, and budget
• Drive innovation – Stay current with technology trends and encourage the team to explore new approaches

Your Profile

• Deep production experience with Java and Spring Boot ecosystem (typically 8+ years, but we care more about depth and leadership impact than years)
• Proven track record in architectural leadership – you've designed systems for scale, resilience, and security
• Strong understanding of distributed systems: CAP theorem trade-offs, eventual consistency, failure modes, and business continuity planning
• Experience ensuring compliance with industry regulations and security best practices
• Ability to balance technical debt against delivery velocity with strategic judgment
• Exceptional communication skills – you explain complex technical decisions clearly to both engineers and executive stakeholders
• Mentorship experience – you've worked with less experience colleagues and guided them
• Bonus points for: Kafka, Kubernetes, AWS experience, performance engineering, practical use of AI developer tools, React or TypeScript frontend skills, as well as a background in the financial services industry or regulated industries
