Help us introduce new, innovative IT technologies at the BAMF.
The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees intends to further expand its path as a digital authority and, by implementing the current digitalization agenda, will ensure that its statutory tasks can be fulfilled in a crisis-proof manner, even in the context of constantly changing influencing factors.
Our IT department relies on a microservice-based IT infrastructure and, through agile software development, creates future-proof IT solutions in a modern work environment. In this context, we utilize innovative technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence and establish a container-based cloud platform.
Software development is the core focus of Group 22. The diverse range of tasks ranges from specialized application development in the area of asylum and integration systems and "Platform as a Service (PaaS)" middleware to the IT innovation hub, cross-agency interfaces, and data warehouse applications.
- You are responsible for the conception of new software services based on the BAMF architecture guidelines (e.g. on the "BAMF Platform as a Service” infrastructure)
- Furthermore, the development of software and services using current technologies and programming languages (backend and/or frontend) as well as the coordinating support of the introduction of applications are part of your responsibilities
- As part of our DevOps teams, you are responsible for application operations on our Open Shift-based cloud platform
- You will also design, configure and monitor the build environment
- You will develop scripts for compiling and implementing the Continuous Delivery process and will be responsible for the technical planning and coordination of commissioning with the BAMF stakeholders and the ITZBund
- In addition, you advise other software developers on the use of the Continuous Integrationprocess
Your profile
- You have completed a university degree (at least at Bachelor level) in computer science, business informatics, mathematics or another relevant degree with a focus on information technology or have completed a MINT profession with a focus on information technology
- Alternatively, you have an equivalent diploma from a recognized university of cooperative education in the above-mentioned disciplines*
- Eligible to apply are also persons who have at least three years of professional experience in an IT job that would be rated in pay group 10 to 12, Part III, Section 24 TV EntgO Bund
- You can apply if you complete your studies within three months of the application deadline. Your final certificate must be submitted upon notification of your application.
- Proven knowledge and experience in software development is beneficial
- Furthermore, proven theoretical knowledge or practical experience in using programming languages (.NET/Java, Angular) as well as scripting languages and database systems is an advantage
- Ideally, you also know the corresponding technology stacks (e.g. Spring Boot Framework, ORM frameworks, MVVM pattern) of the programming languages
- In addition, proven knowledge in development under classic and agile software development process models, such as the V-model or SCRUM, is beneficial
- Ideally, you also have knowledge and experience of DevOps-oriented application development (conception, maintenance and further development taking into account the strategies of continuous integration, delivery and deployment) as well as application operation and infrastructures and containerized environments
- Your profile is rounded off by communication, organizational and cooperation skills
- Please note that this position requires good German language skills at least at level C1 according to GER
- To perform this activity, a simple security clearance (SÜ1) is required in accordance with Section 5 of the Asylum Act in conjunction with Section 8 of the SÜG. You are willing to successfully complete this clearance in a timely manner.

- A permanent position in pay group E 10 to E 12 TV EntgO Bund, whereby for a classification in pay group 12 TV EntgO Bund the personal requirements must be met in all cases, which will be examined on a case-by-case basis
- Civil servants up to salary group A 12 are also eligible to apply. These civil servants are intended to be employed in the higher non-technical or technical federal administrative service. Civil servants in the middle service must meet the requirements of Section 24 of the Federal Administrative Service Regulations (Bundesverwaltungsordnung, BLV).
- If you are already employed in the public service, employment at the Federal Office is possible for civil servants and for employees covered by collective agreements with the Federal Government, initially by way of secondment with the aim of being transferred to the Federal Office. The civil service and collective agreement regulations apply in this case.
- If you have specific qualifications and relevant professional experience, depending on the application situation, there is the possibility of crediting a higher level of experience and granting additional salary components, for example in the form of a skilled worker allowance.
- Collective bargaining employees receive an annual bonus and a company pension plan
- BAMF employees receive a monthly BAMF allowance of €125, initially limited until 31.12.2027
