The Computational Health Center is a dynamic and innovative institution engaged in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) methods for biomedical applications. In this highly explosive and relevant field of research we are one of the largest and most recognized centers in Germany. The Institute of Computational Biology (ICB) is globally recognised for innovations in data analysis and modelling of biological systems and diseases, anchored at Helmholtz Munich and the Technical University of Munich. At our institute you will find a scientifically stimulating international environment.

The Theis Lab has a long-standing reputation for pioneering machine learning and AI methods in molecular biology, in particular on single-cell genomics.

Your tasks

  • Coordinate the international open-source developer scverse community
    • Organize regular online community meetings
    • Support online & in person events such as community hackathons, conferences, and workshops
  • Curate social media content and blog posts of events and software releases
  • Improve the scverse visual identity and branding
  • Implement, manage, and support academic & corporate sponsorship programs
  • Collaborate with scientists to develop a workshop curriculum

Your profile

  • BSc or MSc-level university degree, preferably in the natural sciences, health, computational field or similar
  • Team-player with demonstrable experience in scientific project management
  • Attention to detail and the ability to diligently manage a broad range of different responsibilities in your own time
  • Excellent communicator with verbal and written fluency in English
  • Ability to work independently within an international team and environment

Desirable qualifications

  • Background in computational biology or computer science
  • Extra training in public communication, project management or social media
  • Existing experience with open source communities
  • Experience with graphic design and video editing

If you fulfill all the requirements, you may be eligible for a salary grade of up to E 13. Social benefits are based on the Collective Wage Agreement for Public-Sector Employees (TVöD). The position has an (initial) fixed term of 1 year but may be extended under certain circumstances.
