The Position
As a Principal Information Scientist / Computational Chemist (m/f/d), you will become part of our Information Extraction team and bridge the gap between complex chemical data and pioneering R&D decisions. In an environment that thrives on innovation and diversity, you will use your expertise in structure searching and text mining to gain valuable insights from patents and literature. Together, we shape the digital transformation in healthcare and drive solutions that sustainably improve the lives of patients.
The Opportunity
Bring in expertise: You are responsible for the research and analysis of technical information (patents, literature, clinical studies) with a specific focus on chemical structures, syntheses, and mass spectrometry.
Drive innovation: You develop and use automated processes as well as text and data mining tools to efficiently prepare and visualize large amounts of data.
Strategic advice: You act as a competent contact person for R&D, patent departments, and product management to ensure "Freedom-to-Operate" and the state-of-the-art.
Shape the future: By programming your own tools and applying AI rights, you continuously optimize our information flows.
Share knowledge: You promote the exchange of new techniques and methods within the global Roche community.
Who you are
Qualification: You have a successfully completed degree (Master or PhD) in chemistry, physics, or biochemistry with a very strong chemical focus.
Experience: You bring sound professional experience in Research & Development and/or project management in the life science sector, ideally supplemented by knowledge in the field of Intellectual Property / patenting.
Information expertise: You possess sound specialist knowledge in information procurement as well as in research on relevant online hosts (e.g., STN, PatBase), particularly in structure research and Markush databases.
Data Science & IT: You bring deep know-how in data science (text mining, information extraction; ideally experience in Natural Language Processing) and data visualization. Experience in areas such as programming is an advantage.
Analytics & Stakeholders: With your strong analytical skills and your experience in stakeholder management, you translate complex data into strategic recommendations for our partners.
Mindset & Teamplay: You act independently in the sense of VACC (Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, Coach), think strategically, and enjoy solving complex issues in an agile team.
Languages: You communicate very confidently in English; knowledge of German is an advantage for collaboration at the site.
