Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Operations, the Director, Sourcing Partnership Development is responsible for strategy development and execution of expansion of NDRI’s donation partner network with OPOs, Tissue Banks, Eye Banks, Hospitals, Recovery Personnel and Recovery Sites. He/she is responsible for collaborating with external leaders in the field of organ and tissue donation to advance NDRI’s initiatives. He/she is responsible for ensuring systems, processes and procedures are in place to manage the procurement network’s compliance with relevant quality and performance standards and meet the business objectives and goals of the organization. The Director, Sourcing Partnership Development, will serve as a member of NDRI’s Executive Management Team and work collaboratively and pro-actively with other senior staff members to identify opportunities to strengthen and manage new and existing relationships with NDRI’s procurement network. The position requires strong business development skills as well as rigorous analysis, problem solving, business forecasting and decision-making skills.
- Lead expansion of NDRI’s donation partner network to align with the organization’s objectives.
- Strengthen and manage new and existing contracts with NDRI’s donation partner network to grow return on investment for the organization.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including leaders at organ procurement organizations (OPOs), tissue banks, eye banks, transplant centers, hospitals, and other industry leaders.
- Execute opportunities for growth via new procurement services that align with NDRI’s emerging needs.
- Develop performance objectives, guidance and leadership for NDRI’s donation partner sites to advance NDRI’s initiatives, including working with the Operations teams on the processes and infrastructure that ensure NDRI’s procurement network complies with relevant quality and performance standards.
- Oversee training programs for NDRI’s donation partner sites on NDRI’s SOPs for the screening, authorization, recovery, processing, preservation, and packaging of research tissue.
- Participate as an active member of the Executive Management Team (EMT) on technology initiatives, budgeting and demand forecasting, and establishing the growth strategy for NDRI’s donation partner network.
- Work with Chief Scientific Officer to develop strategies for internal and external resource utilization for tissue procurement efforts for execution of new initiatives.
- Work with Chief Financial Officer to develop budgets and financial performance metrics.
- Work with Quality Assurance to develop Quality and Regulatory compliance objectives and milestones for NDRI’s donation partner network and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Certification as Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (CTBS) required.
- Highly proficient in contract negotiation, budgeting, and solid understanding of legal and contractual matters.
- Demonstrated expertise in supporting human biospecimen research through collaboration with Organ Procurement Organizations, including ethical procurement, regulatory compliance, high-quality specimen collection, and the application of research protocols and data analysis to advance best practices.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursday’s employees are required to be in the office. Wednesday and Fridays are work from home. This role requires frequent travel to donation partner sites and industry meetings nationwide. Expected travel is approximately 30-40% of the time.
Experience
- Master’s degree in health and/or business administration, plus 7-10 years’ experience working within an OPO, Tissue/Eye Bank or heath care facility. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Certification as Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (CTBS) required.
- Highly proficient in contract negotiation, budgeting, and solid understanding of legal and contractual matters.
