We have partnered with our client in their search for a Senior, hands-on Database Administrator / Database Architect to support the modernization, stabilization, and performance optimization of a shared database environment supporting multiple applications and teams. This role will work closely with Java-based microservice development teams, legacy .NET application teams, and the internal DBA group to improve database reliability, scalability, and day-to-day operability.
Responsibilities
-
- Hands-on support for PostgreSQL (AWS RDS) databases backing Java microservices
- Query optimization, indexing, and concurrency troubleshooting
- Incremental architecture improvements and modernization
- Performance and reliability optimization
- Observability improvements, dashboards, alerts, and runbooks
- Close collaboration with development and DBA teams
Skills Required
-
- Strong hands-on PostgreSQL experience (AWS RDS preferred)
- Experience working with Java-based applications
- Proven performance tuning and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with caching strategies such as Redis
- Strong collaboration and communication skills -
Nice to Have
- CI/CD integration for database changes
- Datadog or similar observability tools
- DBA + developer background
- Consulting or contract experience
Education & Work Experience
- - BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required
- - 3+ year experience required
