The Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) is a pioneer and a driver of bioeconomy research. We create the scientific foundation to transform agricultural, food, industrial and energy systems into a sustainable bio-based circular economy. We develop and integrate techniques, processes and management strategies, effectively converging technologies to intelligently crosslink highly diverse bioeconomic production systems and to control them in a knowledge-based, adaptive and largely automated manner. We conduct research in dialogue with society, policymakers, industry and other stakeholders - knowledge-driven and application-inspired.

As a partner organisation in the European Partnership Agriculture of Data (AgData), ATB contributes data from research projects (use cases) to the partnership, covering a broad spectrum of topics in agricultural engineering, crop production, environmental and climate research, digitalisation, biodiversity and sustainable land use. To ensure that these use cases are effectively integrated into AgData, that their results are visible internationally and that close cooperation within the partnership is guaranteed, we are seeking, at the earliest possible date a

The position is central to the interface between the underlying research projects (use cases), research data management at ATB and AgData. It ensures that the use case deliverables are implemented in terms of content, technology and organisation, that the underlying ATB research projects are internationally networked and visible, and that cooperation between the scientists involved at the ATB and the AgData team is guaranteed.

Your tasks

• Preparation, curation and quality assurance of diverse research data sets,
• Creation, maintenance and harmonisation of data and metadata documentation,
• Supporting the publication and archiving of data according to FAIR principles,
• Maintaining and further developing databases and platforms for the preparation and exchange of use case data – with a particular focus on compliance with legal requirements and ensuring sustainable reusability,
• Development and documentation of standardised data workflows and pipelines for the collection, curation and quality assurance of research data (e.g. sensor, field or image data),
• Development and integration of interoperable interfaces for analysis and AI applications

including ensuring consistent data flows between data sources and processing environments,

• Taking on project-related organisational tasks (schedule management, documentation, preparation of meetings, organisation of events),
• Preparation of progress reports, monitoring processes and maintenance of project-related status overviews and Key Performance Indicators.

Your qualifications

• Completed university degree, preferably with a doctorate, in a scientific field related to ATB's research areas,
• In-depth knowledge and practical experience in research data management, including FAIR principles, data and metadata documentation, data quality and curation, data publication and repositories, as well as fundamental aspects of data governance, data protection and the legal framework for data licensing and use.
• Confident handling of scientific data sets, ideally from areas such as sensor technology, UAV and image data, agricultural data or environmental monitoring.
• Knowledge of the implementation of scientific data workflows and pipelines, programming skills (e.g. Python, R) and experience in working with relational databases and SQL (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL) are advantageous.
• Experience in EU projects or in the project management of scientific joint projects, especially in dealing with reporting, is an advantage,
• Very good written and spoken German and English skills.
• Strong team and communication skills, independent and structured way of working, and enjoyment of interdisciplinary and international collaboration.

The full-time position (100 %) 40 hours/week is initially imited to the 30^th September 2027. There is an option to extend the position for up to five years, depending on the continued funding of the EU partnership. Part-time employment is also possible if desired. Salary will be based on your qualifications and experience according to TV-L up to pay grade E 13.
