The Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) is a pioneer and a driver of bioeconomy research. We create the scientific foundation to transform agricultural, food, industrial and energy systems into a sustainable bio-based circular economy. We develop and integrate techniques, processes and management strategies, effectively converging technologies to intelligently crosslink highly diverse bioeconomic production systems and to control them in a knowledge-based, adaptive and largely automated manner. We conduct research in dialogue with society, policymakers, industry and other stakeholders - knowledge-driven and application-inspired.
FAIRagrois a consortium within the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) in Germany. Its goals and activities focus on developing a connected research data management (RDM) framework for agrosystem research and establishing an interoperable, scalable, quality-assured, and user-friendly research data infrastructure aligned with the FAIR principles. Through FAIRagro, research data will become Findable (F), Accessible (A), Interoperable (I), and Reusable (R) for the scientific community. The consortium brings together 11 co-applicants and 22 partner institutions from across Germany.
To support the FAIRagro Task Area "Community Involvement & Networking”, particularly the measures "Community Participation” and "Use Case Onboarding”, we are seeking, at the earliest possible possible date a
Research Associate / Coordinator (f/m/d) (50 %) in the field of Research Data Management
Your tasks
- Identification and analysis of community needs in the area of Research Data Management (RDM) in close collaboration with other FAIRagro measures, including the planning, implementation, and evaluation of needs assessments and surveys.
- Regular evaluation and monitoring of FAIRagro services and activities, including conducting RDM gap analyses with regard to existing service and support structures.
- Support in the preparation, organization, and implementation of community engagement activities and events, such as the FAIRagro Community Summit, the Ambassador Network, and Use Case workshops.
- Development, maintenance, and updating of target-group-specific information and outreach materials related to FAIRagro and RDM (web content, presentations, print materials, etc.).
- Representation of FAIRagro at national and international conferences, workshops, and events, and contribution to RDM-related training and workshops.
Your qualifications
- A completed university degree (Master or equivalent) in agricultural, environmental, biological, or geosciences, engineering, or a comparable qualification in research data management.
- Strong interest in agricultural, natural, or environmental sciences, as well as in the further development of FAIR research data management and Open Science practices.
- Experience in needs assessments, survey design, and data analysis (e.g., using LimeSurvey or similar tools).
- Very good knowledge of the FAIR principles, the fundamentals of research data management, and relevant research infrastructures.
- Excellent communication skills in German and English (written and spoken).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary national research network, and to coordinate closely with all FAIRagro partners and staff members.
- Strong organizational skills, teamwork capabilities, and high motivation for community-building activities.

The part-time position (50 %) 20 hours/week is initially limited until 30th September 2027, with the possibility of extension depending on project continuation. Salary will be based on your qualifications and experience according to TV-L, up to pay grade E 13.
