The Position
Your responsabilities include:
The Project Sourcing Manager drives end-to-end sourcing, contract, and supplier management for Roche product development and commercialization. The role will manage the OEM and Contract Manufacturing portfolio of Third Party Finished Products within the Global OEM Delivery Procurement team . This role ensures procurement deliverables are met on product development projects, aligning all sourcing requests with business strategy, priorities, and preferred supplier arrangements.
The Manager translates business requirements into supplier deliverables, applying appropriate methodologies and tools to meet deadlines, and ensures a transparent evaluation and selection process. They collaborate with Business Partners and Category Management teams to develop robust sourcing strategies.
Acting as a key contact for Direct Procurement during product development, the Specialist uses continuous improvement to gain operational efficiencies and optimize supplier performance. They also support contracting activities by collaborating with legal and/or contracting functions on master agreements, statements of work, and change orders.
The Manager is knowledgeable in enterprise tools (e.g., SAP) and the overall procurement process, including requirements documentation, analysis, negotiations, and stakeholder/supplier communication. They deeply understand internal stakeholder functions, effectively translating business needs into procurement actions. The role applies expertise in project management, product development, and Roche's category and supplier management approach to project needs.
Main tasks of the position:
Deliver on assigned projects and targets – high value strategic projects according to the relevant Business Area Product Portfolio Strategy, Product Development roadmap, and annual pipeline of initiatives within DOP. Create all primary product development deliverables and obtain sign off for all major milestones in line with Roche’s category and supplier management approach, and in compliance with relevant policies, standards, guidelines, and operating procedures. After project execution, ensure a smooth and efficient handover to the Delivery Procurement Sourcing Manager.
Apply robust project management – Create and execute against project plans. Work in cooperation with Business Project Leaders / Project Managers to ensure the appropriate support is leveraged to deliver project needs.
Establish effective project support – Ensure robust project support by leveraging category and supplier management, procurement process know-how, and Direct Procurement Project Specialist resources, where applicable. Serve as the primary contact for procurement and ensure issues and needs are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
Monitor and mitigate risk – Monitor the progress of projects and pro-actively identify and report any projected risks to overall targets or timelines as well as potential mitigation strategies. Resolve issues and project risks on a timely basis and escalate issues and risks where appropriate.
Provide feedback – Contribute any feedback to employees that have been involved in the project execution and delivery as requested by their performance managers.
Who you are:
University degree, with Business or Life Sciences degree preferable.
5+ years procurement or supply chain experience delivering measurable value in strategic sourcing, enterprise cost reduction, and / or operational efficiency projects.
3+ years of project management experience including risk management, project reporting, and delivering quantitative and qualitative results in complex environments.
Expert in upwards communication and senior stakeholder management, complemented by strong interpersonal skills (communication, influencing). Preferred qualifications include a post-graduate business degree, international strategic sourcing experience, and expertise in scientific/engineering contexts, vocational training, or new product/technology transfer.
Proficient with enterprise systems (SAP, Oracle) and procurement/procure-to-pay tools (e.g., Ariba, Emptoris, SAP).
Possesses demonstrated understanding of major direct spend categories, cost levers, and market fundamentals. Strong background in strategic sourcing and supplier management for new product development in highly regulated industries (e.g., medical device/pharmaceutical). Highly capable in negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management.
Expert in MS Project and other business systems, with knowledge of procurement-specific systems and processes for efficient sourcing events and contract negotiations (e.g., eSourcing, eAuction).
Desirably, strong analytical experience including driving insights from large data sources, data visualization applications (e.g., Tableau, Qlikview), and database applications (e.g., Access), or experience in life sciences or management consulting.
Professional certifications such as CIPS, PMP, Prince 2, or finance-related licenses are advantageous.
