SALARY RANGE $110,000-140,000

FUNCTION

Responsible for managing all aspects of the day-to-day operations of Wishes & More. To fulfill this duty, the Executive Director must oversee the organization’s finances, employees, fundraising, and operations and represent the organization as its highest-level staff person. In addition, this position is responsible for working with the Board of Directors in strategic short term and long-term goals and providing the support and implementation required to achieve those goals.

REPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Board Management

  • Fulfill the mission, goals and purpose of the organization
  • Lead strategic planning with the Board of Directors, setting short- and long-term goals and support directives as assigned.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress toward strategic objectives, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Partner with the Board to establish policies, priorities, and governance best practices.
  • Keep the Board informed of significant developments, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Assist and support Board recruitment, training, and engagement to strengthen governance and fundraising capacity.
  • Support the Board chair and serve as lead staff for Board and Executive Committee meetings and assume staff responsibility for board meeting preparation, support materials and communications.
  • Provide timely, consistent communications.
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit laws, regulations and best practices
  • Work closely with the President and Board Chair in implementing goals and the development and maintenance of existing and future relationships

Staff & Administrative Oversite

  • Recruit, mentor, and participate in evaluation of staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Provide clear direction and measurable goals for staff while encouraging professional growth.
  • In partnership with the Wish Team, ensure that all of our mission programs, Referral & Medical Outreach and Volunteer Programs meet the highest quality and standards.
  • Identify opportunities to expand or adapt programs in response to emerging trends or challenges.
  • Review and approve contracts for services (e.g., insurance, IT)
  • Develop and implement administrative and organizational policies and procedures
  • Staff or oversee committees to ensure they are fulfilling their responsibilities

Financial Stewardship and Fundraising

  • Maintain responsibility for the fiscal integrity of the Foundation including oversight and submission of the annual budget and reporting of the monthly financial statements reflecting the financial condition of the organization
  • Maintain sound financial controls and ensure compliance with applicable. laws and regulations and nonprofit reporting standards and agencies.
  • Work with other fundraising staff and volunteers in securing diverse funding sources, including grants, donations, sponsorships, and earned revenue to meet budget expectations.
  • Be responsible for active participation/solicitation and oversight of fundraising activities, including donor cultivation, corporate sponsorships, and events and meeting fundraising goals.
  • Be responsible for grant applications to meet budget expectations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners.

Community Engagement

  • Serve as a spokesperson effectively communicating our mission, programs, and impact.
  • Represent Wishes & More at public events, networking opportunities and conferences, and meetings to build visibility and influence.
  • Attend, speak and represent Wishes & More at internal and external events and functions.

EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 years professional experience
  • Office administration and staff management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Goal oriented self-starter
  • Proven fundraising skills

PREFERRED QUALITIES

  • Data base management experience
  • Computer skills (Microsoft office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Marketing and Fundraising experience
  • Strong communication skills
