Purpose:

The Clinical Supervisor oversees the clinical work of an interdisciplinary Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team, ensuring quality care, regulatory compliance, and effective, client-centered treatment. This role includes supervising and training licensed and unlicensed staff, conducting case reviews, implementing evidence-based practices, and modeling high-quality care. Using servant leadership, the supervisor supports individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders in achieving self-directed lives through direct services and crisis diversion. The position also maintains documentation, promotes professional development, and fosters a collaborative clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the program’s clinical operations, including referral process and treatment for clients from intake to discharge.
  • Assist with the staff schedule as needed to ensure staff-to-client ratio standards are in compliance.
  • Provide leadership and direct supervision to program staff, including 90-day and annual reviews.
  • Partner with leadership and Human Resources for interviewing, onboarding, and training.
  • Provide ongoing training opportunities for staff and ensure training requirements are being met per 245I variance.
  • Prioritize and engage in professional development of program staff.
  • Review and develop program curriculum for psychoeducational/skills-based groups.
  • Ensure required documentation is completed properly and within timeframes according to 245I variance.
  • Build partnerships with external providers and referral sources to provide education about the referral processes.
  • Foster a recovery focused environment to promote overall wellness for clients.
  • Collaborate with staff and clients to ensure treatment is provided with a person-centered, harm-reduction, and recovery focus.
  • Participate in on-call services and shift coverage as needed.
  • Promote an inclusive, diverse, culturally competent, and respectful work environment.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and evidence-based practices.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, state and federal mental health laws, licensing board regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Understanding of clinical supervision models (e.g., developmental, integrative) and how to apply them.
  • Familiarity with documentation, reporting requirements, and care coordination.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse, mental health disorders, dual diagnosis, and community resources.
  • Awareness of protocols and best practices in crisis management and de-escalation.
  • Ability to lead clinical staff, provide guidance, conduct evaluations, and support professional growth.
  • Ability to develop and maintain receptive, open, and approachable lines of communication with clients and staff, and provide a friendly environment for visitors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including composing, proofreading, and editing.
  • Presentation and meeting facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work as a proactive and positive member of a team to deliver quality services.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of organization, personnel information, and client data.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and maintain healthy professional boundaries.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and set priorities.
  • Proficiency with a variety of web-based software and databases, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions:

  • This position will work both in the office and in the community providing services to clients.
  • Travel may be required to other program sites.
  • Requires transporting clients in a personal vehicle regularly.
  • This position has the potential to come into contact with bodily fluids, communicable diseases, tobacco smoke, and household pets.
  • Prolonged periods at a desk, working on a computer.
  • Walking and standing continuously for hours at a time.
  • Manual dexterity for tasks such as taking notes, using technological devices for documentation, or assisting clients with certain activities if needed.
  • Must be ambulatory and able to negotiate stairways.
  • The ability to lift and carry heavy weights that could be up to 25 pounds.

Education and Experience:

Required

  • Master’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university AND has 4,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illnesses.
  • Currently licensed as a Mental Health Professional (LICSW, LMFT or LPCC) in the State of Minnesota and in good standing.

Preferred

  • Board-approved Mental Health Professional Supervisor; or eligible to become board-approved within 6 months.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must not be actively receiving services from Guild and must not have received services within the last two years.
  • A valid Class ‘D’ Driver’s License, reliable vehicle, satisfactory driving record and necessary insurance.
  • Must be available to provide on-call crisis support 24/7 in weekly intervals in a rotation.

The salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $89,000 annually. The range reflects the minimum and maximum salary for the position. Compensation will depend on the candidate’s professional experience, skills, and relevant education, training, and certifications.
