Über diesen Job
Intro
A former teacher turned entrepreneur, the founder of Cucua is on a mission to give educators the power to teach more effectively than ever before. Instead of relying on four or more different tools, Cucua enables teachers to use just one app to create digital tests, receive feedback, and measure performance—all in one place.
Cucua’s vision is to become a comprehensive assessment suite that covers every type of evaluation a teacher might need. With this, teachers can:
- evaluate their students’ needs faster,
- make better use of learning time,
- tailor teaching to individual needs,
- and focus on what cannot be automated, such as developing social and emotional skills.
Until now, development has been outsourced and the MVP is 90 percent complete. The next step is to find a co-founder/CTO to scale the product and help disrupt education. The belief behind Cucua is clear: teaching brings out the best in people—and Cucua aims to bring out the best in teachers.
Timing: We’re targeting a launch in early November 2025 and want to start ASAP.
Compensation: This is an equity-first role (no salary until the first investment) with a significant ownership stake and real decision-making power.
Time commitment: First months part time, after funding full-time position.
Place of work: This is a hybrid job offer. However, we plan to open an in-person office within the next year with an in-person policy.
Are you ready to join the adventure?
Tasks
- Finish MVP: close out remaining tickets, harden the stack, set up CI/CD, testing, observability, and core analytics.
- Own the technology roadmap from MVP completion to scalable, secure, high-quality product.
- Collaborate on strategy with the founding team: product priorities, customer feedback loops, hiring plans, and investor conversations.
- Wear startup hats: from architecture to devops to quick UI tweaks—whatever moves the needle.
- Ship code daily (especially backend). You’ll architect, implement, review PRs, manage releases, and monitor production.
- Migrate from prototype to a scalable web app after first release: evolve architecture (clear modular boundaries, API versioning), refine data models and migrations, add caching/queuing and rate limiting, introduce SLOs/monitoring, strengthen security (OWASP/GDPR), and establish infra-as-code with robust CI/CD for a growing team.
Requirements
- Founder mindset: drive, great communication, ownership, and resilience.
- 7+ years professional software development, with deep backend expertise in Node.js and MongoDB.
- Solid Angular experience (enough to implement features and guide standards).
- Proven track record shipping production systems end-to-end (architecture, data modeling, testing, deployment, monitoring).
- Strong grasp of security, reliability, and performance in cloud environments.
- Product sense: you translate user needs and business goals into pragmatic technical choices.
- Big plus if you are willing to relocate to the Mannheim, Germany area within the next year.
Benefits
- Big equity stake as a true co-founder with a say in product, tech, and company direction.
- Ownership of a product in an area with stellar growth rates.
- A driven founding team with a great plan to make this big.
- Hybrid work options.
- Work on a product that has a social impact.
