About the opportunity:

Sony AI is seeking a highly motivated, dedicated individual with expertise in Machine Learning and Uncertainty Quantification Algorithms for a 6-month internship position. We’re currently looking for clever, enthusiastic people who want to join our team of world-renowned researchers as we push the boundaries of applying AI in support of human creativity. In this role, the successful candidate will contribute to our groundbreaking flagship project in AI for Chip Design, thus merging physics with Machine Learning techniques.

You will:

• Develop and implement Machine Learning (ML) algorithms and Uncertainty Quantification (UQ) frameworks to accelerate physics modelling and propagate uncertainties through multiphysics systems.
• Focus on research topics in ML & UQ, integrating probabilistic methods with physics modelling to quantify epistemic and aleatoric uncertainties.
• Collaborate with domain experts to validate the developed frameworks for practical applications.
• Propose performance metrics and identify limitations of the models.
• Write reports and give presentations for the internal audience.
• Publish papers in top-tier venues.
• Write code to support research, usually in Python and/or C++
• Work closely with a team of AI researchers and engineers at a global level on bold and innovative AI projects

You will bring:

• Passion to develop brand-new AI technology and deploy it through a multi-stakeholder approach
• Background in Machine Learning ( M.Sc., Ph.D.) and relevant work/research experience on topics related to Uncertainty Quantification.
• Solid programming skills using Python, as well as frameworks such as PyTorch
• Excellent oral and written English
