Intro
🚀 Working Student Positions – Humanoid Robotics Startup (Würzburg / Schweinfurt)
We are jarm . ai GmbH, a young robotics startup building the next generation of humanoid robots. Our vision is to enable new forms of human-machine interaction powered by cutting-edge AI models.
As a small, ambitious startup, we value initiative, creativity, and a strong belief in European values. Since humanoid robotics is an emerging field, joining us means you won’t just help build our company and first prototypes - you may also shape how this technology is perceived across society.
We are currently looking for working students (15-20 €/hour) in the Würzburg/Schweinfurt area to join our early team and support the development of our prototype and the preparation of our upcoming seed funding round.
Proximity matters right now for hands-on prototyping and team building, but in the long run we aim to expand across Europe and work in a more distributed setup. All work and documentation is done in English to enable multicultural colleagues, prepare for international investors and enable future expansions.
This role is primarily targeted at Master’s students, but motivated Bachelor’s students are also welcome to apply. Planned starting dates for this role are in October and November.
Tasks
Your tasks
- Mechanical design & prototyping of robot structures (CAD, 3D printing, lightweight assemblies).
- Integration of off-the-shelf actuators, sensors, and controllers.
- Control software (ROS2, Python/C++, …) for hardware-AI integration.
- Research & implementation of Vision-Language-Action models for robot behaviour.
- Hands-on lab work: assembly, wiring, debugging, and testing.
Of course, you are not expected to cover all areas. We plan to build a small team where each member contributes their own strengths.
Requirements
Your profile
- Background in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Extended AI or a comparable field.
- First experience in at least one relevant area (CAD, prototyping, ROS2, embedded systems, AI, LLMs, VLAs, …).
- Curiosity, problem-solving mindset, and hands-on mentality.
- Comfortable working in English for collaboration and documentation.
