Research topics include multitrophic interactions (e.g. pollination, biological control), food webs and the relative im-portance of local vs. regional determinants for ecosystem functions in managed and (semi)natural ecosys-tems. A major focus is on the agroecology of tropical and temperate land-use systems, including effects of land-use change, climate change and urbanization. We aim to develop farming practices at local and landscape scales that promote agricultural productivity while sustaining biodiversity, ecosystem functions and services.
