in the field of Aeronautical / Aerospace / Mechanical Engineering Our challenges:
- Understand the potentials of revolutionary propulsion systems for future aircraft designs
- Incubate novel ideas for innovative propulsion systems with a high level of technical creativity and progress them jointly with the aero propulsion community
- Develop methods for the conceptual design, performance simulation and aircraft integration of highly advanced motive power solutions, featuring revolutionary gas turbine engines, hybrid system architectures and new types of energy such as hydrogen
- Understand and evaluate the impact on climate change and possible technology options
- Combine the views of an aircraft architect (generalist) and a specialist in propulsion within the interdisciplinary project work
- Conduct joint projects in the field of advanced aircraft and propulsion system design in cooperation with industrial partners and international research institutions We need you because:
- You are excited about the aviation challenges and passionate to develop new ideas and provide scientific answers for innovative propulsion solutions
- You have successfully completed your Master's in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering and either already earned a PhD degree or you intend to obtain one
- You can draw from a thorough understanding of heat engine thermodynamics as well as a solid comprehension of fuel cell systems
- You have gained relevant experience in the fields of aircraft propulsion conceptual design and/or performance calculation
- You have excellent mathematical and analytical skills, good programming skills (e.g. MATLAB, Python) and are willing to familiarise yourself with new topics and tools
- You are interested in multidisciplinary, target-oriented tasks within joint academic or industry projects
- You are proficient in German and English
