To strengthen our Tobacco Product Development Center in Trier, we are looking for a Product Development Trainee (m/f/d).

Your job mission:

This three-year training program is designed to build up your competence and to prepare you for future career opportunities in the Tobacco Product Development Center (TPDC). As part of a structured program, you will gain in-depth expertise in all technical aspects of tobacco and other product developments. You will also develop a comprehensive understanding of the tobacco industry’s needs, strategies and essential key drivers. From day one, you will take on meaningful responsibilities in daily operations and special projects. The program includes personal development and functional training opportunities.

Your tasks:

• Participate in specialized training to develop comprehensive expertise in tobaccos and regions, casing & flavor, product components/design and sensory evaluation of tobacco and other products
• Engage in on-the-job training across relevant departments to understand the tobacco business and technical aspects of product development
• Support product development projects by contributing to the development of new tobacco and other products, as well as to the modification and maintenance of existing products
• Learn to create and manage product specifications, aligned with brands, markets, regulatory and corporate requirements and policies 
• Assist with operational and strategic tasks assigned by TPDC management

Your profile:

• Relevant educational background: University degree (Bachelors', Masters' or PhD) in Chemistry, Food Technology, Agronomy or a related field
• Practical experience: Initial work experience in a scientific or FCMG environment, preferably in the tobacco industry
• Valuable knowledge: High interest in scientific fields and with a strong aptitude for technical matters / Solid analytical skills, familiar with statistical methods / Fluent in English, both written and spoken; additional languages are a plus / Proficient in MS Office and SAP
• Special strengths: Ability to work effectively in an international environment / Excellent communication and presentation skills / Sensory evaluation capabilities for tobacco and other products
• Suitable personality: Positive, confident and proactive attitude / Open-minded, adaptable and eager to learn / Willingness to travel
