The newly funded Cluster of Excellence TERRA "Terrestrial Geo-Biosphere Interactions in a Changing World" is an interdisciplinary research initiative of geoscientists, biologists, and computer scientists at the Universities of Tübingen and Hohenheim and the Senckenberg Institution of Biodiversity and Earth System Research in Frankfurt, investigating how the interactions between the living and non-living worlds shape global change from single microorganisms to the globe, in the geological past, at present, and in the future. It starts on January 1, 2026 and is currently funded until December 31, 2032. In the framework of our funding line of synthesis projects, we invite applications for a one-year postdoctoral position:

Postdoctoral Researcher - Interdisciplinary Synthesis and Publication Coordination (m/f/d, E13 TV-L , 100%)

starting 1.1.2026 until 31.12.2026.

The successful candidate will be based at one of the three partnering institutions. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead an interdisciplinary writing initiative together with members of the TERRA Cluster. The postdoctoral researcher will coordinate and synthesize contributions from an interdisciplinary team of geoscientists and biologist, with the goal of developing a high-impact publication on stability concepts in coupled geo-bio systems.

Candidates should hold a PhD in Geosciences, Environmental Sciences, Biology or related subjects, and have experience in interdisciplinary working between Geosciences and Biology. Experience in writing advanced publications going beyond presentation of small studies is an asset but a documented publication record is a must. Candidates should have a pro-active, well-organised work style, and be competent in interaction and communication with other researchers to work effectively in creative on this interdisciplinary topic. General interest in the research topics of TERRA is mandatory.
